VW to recall 168,000 vehicles in the U.S.
Volkswagen is recalling VW models and Audi models due to faulty fuel injectors in certain diesel models that could cause fuel leaks, possibly creating fire hazards.
The recall includes the 2009-2012 Jetta, 2010-2012 Golf and the 2010-2012 Audi A3. All models subject to the recall have 2.0-liter TDI diesel engines.
In documents filed with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), VW said cracks can develop in the fuel injection system and cause fuel to leak, possibly causing fires. However, the company has had no reports of fires or accidents with regard to the faulty injectors.
VW also said it will install new dampers to reduce vibration in the recalled vehicles and replace fuel injector lines where needed. Both services will be provided free
The recall is scheduled to begin in November, including 161,144 Golf and Jetta models and 7,131 Audi A3 models.
