BMW M5 won't get AWD or Touring
In a recent interview for Autoblog, Albert Biermann, the Head of Product Development at BMW M GmbH, has revealed some interesting things about the M lineup.
First, the executive confirmed the US market will get a six-speed manual version of the new M5. He added that "only the U.S. wants it" and "I don't know how long we'll be able to keep doing this, but at some point, we'll just have to say no" to manual transmissions in certain models.
Next, Biermann said that the M5 Touring will be canceled (due to low sales) and will not have an all-wheel drive M5 sedan.
As for other models, Biermann wants a Z4 M. Additionally, electric M cars are likely but still far from becoming a reality.
