In a recent interview with Auto Express, AMG's Christoph Jung has confirmed Mercedes is developing a 'baby' SLS (possibly named the SLC), which will rival the Porsche 911 and Jaguar C-X16.
Jung said "There is room for an AMG model below the SLS, targeting the Porsche 911. This is the next market for AMG, and we are considering what is the right package."
Details are limited, but the SLC will have two seats and be powered by a front-mounted V8 engine. Auto Express speculates the car could have a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine with 500 hp, driving the rear wheels through a 7-speed twin-clutch gearbox. The coupe accelerates from 0-96 km/h in 4 seconds and hit a top speed of 298 km/h.
Pricing is expected to start at €80,000 ($106,344).
