GM invests $385 million at Romulus Engine plant
GM has announced it will invest $385 million into the Romulus Engine plant (Michigan) to prepare it for production of a new fuel efficient engine.
Gerald Johnson, GM manufacturing manager, stated: “Customers care about fuel efficiency and performance. We continue to innovate to meet both these expectations and the Romulus team will be an important part of our efforts.”
The plant has approximately 840 employees, currently produce a variety of V6 and V8 engines that power GM vehicles like Chevrolet Express, Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban and Colorado, GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon, Canyon, and Cadillac Escalade. In addition, the Romulus plant also are used for marine and industrial applications.
In 2010, GM has produced more than 478,000 engines at this plant.
