Details are limited, but the Suzuki's Russian subsidiary has apparently issued a press release which says the model will be a three-door hatchback.
“In Europe the Volkswagen Polo GTI and Ford Fiesta ST will be rivals for the Swift Sport, which at present is undergoing testing at the Nurburgring,” said Suzuki Europe spokesman Peter Bondarchuk in a loosely translated press release issued to Russian media on July 12.
The car will be equipped by a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine with 136 PS (100 kW / 134 hp). Suzuki has now also formally confirmed the next Swift Sport will be available with either a six-speed manual gearbox and an automatic will also be available.
The Swift Sport will likely be unveiled at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show before hitting Australian showrooms early next year.
