Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller has confirmed to German newspaper Handelsblatt that the company is mulling to build a ‘modern-day’ version of the classic 550 Spyder.
"I can imagine that such a modern version of the famous 'James Dean' Porsche would be well-received by our customers. The new model will not be retro-styled." daily Handelsblatt cited Mueller in an interview published on Thursday.
Expected, the model will be launched in the summer of 2014 and would come with a mid-mounted turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with around 200 hp. The rumoured price tag is around €39,000 - about €8,000 less than the current Boxster.
